This week we have been asking Step Count Challenge participants to tell us about their favourite spring walks. We also asked our staff to share their suggestions for a springtime stroll and here’s what we came up with.

Marion (and Hamish) – Callendar

“My favourite spring walk is round the meadows at Callander. I love taking Hamish there and there are always loads of spring flowers giving ground cover. Walking beside a river at any time of the year is always relaxing and refreshing.”

Ian – Mellon Udrigle, Wester Ross

“We usually try to get to Wester Ross this time of year – this was Mellon Udrigle last May. Hopefully heading again in a couple of weeks.”

Mary – West Sands, St Andrews

“My favourite spring walk is on West Sands St Andrews – still a chill in the air and sometimes the whole vast beach to ourselves.  Oh and the promise of cake and coffee.”

Sarah – Glen Finglas

“My favourite spring walk – Glen Finglas near Brig o’Turk – I spent a summer working there a couple of years ago and was lucky enough to have time to walk a lot of the trails across the estate. Here’s a pic of the (native!) bluebells!”

Louise – Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh

“The Botanics in Edinburgh, love when colour finally breaks through in spring.”

Ian Findlay – Glen Lednock, Comrie

“The oak woods around Comrie are stunning at this time of year, full of wild flowers before the canopy closes. The Circular Walk from Comrie up Glen Lednock is hard to beat.”
